Objectives
- To develop a children dance program at pre-school level
- To provide basic children dance teaching knowledge
- To improve one's knowledge in conducting children dance class
- To expand one's ability in dance choreography

- Learn how to conduct dance exercises systematically with correct dance techniques
- Use more versatile and creative ways to get children engaged in dance class
- Gain simple choreography knowledge
- Enrich the school dance program and develop it to a higher level

- Pre-school owners who wish to start a dance class in their schools
- Pre-school owners who wish to develop their dance class to a more professional level
- Pre-school teachers who have some experience in dance and wish to upgrade themselves
- Pre-school teachers who have no experience but wish to be trained in dance teaching
Modules
(1 hour 30 mins~ 2 hours each)
- Basic dance teaching
- A detailed step-by-step class to train teachers in conducting a dance class according to a newly designed syllabus and music
- Correct and safe dance techniques in terms of posture, alignment, balance, flexibility, strength development etc will be covered and discussed

- Basic choreography
- Basic knowledge about dance choreography: structure, formation, style, content, costumes etc
- Trainees will be given a task to choreograph a short piece of dance in groups

- Music for dance
- Learn how to choose an appropriate music for young kids, and how to analyze it and use it with movements
- Methods of teaching good musicality will be discussed and covered

- Creativity
- Explore ideas on how to engage the children in a dance class, to teach them disciplines and to raise their interest in movements with various creative ways
- Games, challenges and various ideas will be discussed and covered
- Trainees will given a task to design a game using simple movements and music for kids in groups

Fees
- RM450/person including a children dance syllabus, sample CD and all materials to be used throughout the workshop
- RM405/person for early birds (registered by 30 September 2009)
- RM410/person for teachers from same registered school (not applicable for early birds)*refreshment is provided during lunch break
Award
- All participants will be awarded an attendance certificate upon completion of workshop
