In this enchanting fairytale ballet that is set in a joyous Christmas’s eve occasion, The Nutcracker is a light-hearted tale of adventure and courage featuring Clara and her adventures after she receives a beautifully-crafted nutcracker doll from Dr Drosselmeyer.
At the stroke of midnight, the Nutcracker doll comes alive and comes to her rescue when her room is invaded by an army of rats. The King Rat is defeated by the Nutcracker Doll, and The Nutcracker is transformed into a Prince. The Nutcracker Prince then treats Clara to a magical journey through the Kingdom of Sweets, where she is enchanted with sights of Spain, France, Istanbul, Russia, China and Holland and later greeted by the Snow Queen and the Sugar Plum Fairy.
With an alternating cast of 200 dancers dressed in colourful costumes, fascinating projections, an animated backdrop and stage sets for the enthralling scenes of Land of Snow, Kingdom of Sweets, and more, this mega-production promises to be a spectacular Christmas treat for the entire family.

This is the new version of The Nutcracker choreographed by SDT's residential choreographer Jeffery Tan. Personally I've watched the original Petipa version, Bejart version, some contemporary version ( I can't remember which one), Royal Ballet version, and about 5 years ago another version of SDT. Love this ballet music forever! The Nutcracker is quite a good choice for ballet lovers, or those never watch ballet before, very much suitable to celebrate a deariest Xmas!
